A Little Romance
Lovey Dovey Poetry ~ Sweet Nothings to Do ~ Movies to Snuggle by

Sometimes we need a little help finding the best way show our loved ones just how much joy they bring to our lives. This page is dedicated to the little and not so little things we can do for those who mean so much to us.

If you have a romantic idea you would like for us to add, please let me know.

Lovey Dovey Poetry

Of course it is always better to write your own poem, but for those of you who aren't quite ready for that just yet:

Beautiful Dreamer
Beautiful dreamer, wake unto me,
Starlight and dewdrops are waiting for thee;
Sounds of the rude world heard in the day,
Lull'd by the moonlight have all pass'd away!
Beautiful dreamer, queen of my song,
List while I woo thee with soft melody;
Gone are the cares of life's busy throng,
— Beautiful dreamer, awake unto me!
Beautiful dreamer, out on the sea
Mermaids are chanting the wild lorelie;
Over the streamlet vapors are borne,
Waiting to fade at the bright coming morn.
Beautiful dreamer, beam on my heart,
E'en as the morn on the streamlet and sea;
Then will all clouds of sorrow depart,
— Beautiful dreamer, awake unto me!
Stephen Foster

He Wishes for the Cloths of Heaven
Had I the heavens' embroidered cloths,
Enwrought with golden and silver light,
The blue and the dim and the dark cloths
Of night and light and the half-light,
I would spread the cloths under your feet:
But I, being poor, have only my dreams;
I have spread my dreams under your feet;
Tread softly because you tread on my dreams.
W. B. Yeats

Life in a Love Escape me? Never— Beloved!
While I am I, and you are you,
So long as the world contains us both,
Me the loving and you the loth,
While the one eludes, must the other pursue.
My life is a fault at last, I fear—
It seems too much like a fate, indeed!
Though I do my best I shall scarce succeed—
But what if I fail of my purpose here?
It is but to keep the nerves at strain,
To dry one's eyes and laugh at a fall,
And baffled, get up to begin again,—
So the chase takes up one's life, that's all.
While, look but once from your farthest bound,
At me so deep in the dust and dark,
No sooner the old hope drops to ground
Than a new one, straight to the selfsame mark,
I shape me— Ever Removed!
Robert Browning

Love
And in Life's noisiest hour,
There whispers still the ceaseless Love of Thee,
The heart's Self-solace and soliloquy.
You mould my Hopes, you fashion me within ;
And to the leading Love-throb in the Heart
Thro' all my Being, thro' my pulse's beat ;
You lie in all my many Thoughts, like Light,
Like the fair light of Dawn, or summer Eve
On rippling Stream, or cloud-reflecting Lake.
And looking to the Heaven, that bends above you,
How oft! I bless the Lot that made me love you.
Samuel Taylor Coleridge

Sweet Nothings To Do

-surprise your love by running a bath with plenty of bubble bath or salts, and lighting candles all around. Don't forget to have a warm towel waiting for them when they step out by putting in the dryer for a few minutes. (Make sure you clean the bathroom for them too!)

-Write I love you in a giant heart in chalk on the driveway. If you have glow in the dark chalk, that's even better!

-Write I love you in glow in the dark stars on the ceiling

-Instead of buying roses, buy a rose bush that can bring loving memories for years.

-Make cookies (see February recipes) and write your initials on them in chocolate.

-Make breakfast in bed and insist they spend at least an extra hour lounging and relaxing.

-Do the dishes or the laundry or whatever chore that isn't normally yours. Don't mention it, and don't make a big deal, just do it. Trust me, it will make your partner feel loved!

-Place love notes in unexpected places. (Pockets, socks... use your imagination!)
